Once moving to New York, he worked as a makeup artist and private wedding dress designer. Along with this, he had an internship at Marc Jacobs.
Siriano collaborates often. More often than not, large brands. While venturing through all of these business opportunities, he was offered a spot at the CFDA. The Council of Fashion Designers of America. “Our mission is to strengthen the impact of American fashion globally by amplifying creative excellence, business longevity, and positive impact.” In their own words.
Christian has been in many shows, including “Project Runway.” Project Runway is a fashion show where contestants design and create clothes in a limited time depending on a theme. Well, Christian was lucky enough to compete in Project Runway. Soon enough, Siriano set a record for the most wins in challenges throughout the contest (four). Through these accomplishments, he was able to win the competition, receiving 100,000 dollars and an exclusive spread in critically acclaimed, “Elle Magazine.” Along with this, he started his first label, soon to be successful.
Christian’s first label debuted in September of 2008 at New York Fashion Week. Shortly after Siriano’s label was released, his clothing was sent to name-brand racks such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue. Doing this brought in 1.2 million dollars to Christian, naming him one of the Top Forty Entrepreneurs Under Forty. A truly honoring award.
